Luxury cruise ship to sail into Cascais bay

First luxury cruise ship to sail into Cascais bay in two weeks

The new service is the result of a project created by King’s Coast company that in 2010 won a competition for business ideas, promoted by municipal company DNA Cascais.
In June this year, when the imminent arrival of luxury liners was made public, Cascais Mayor Carlos Carreiras said that he expected it to have a high impact on the local economy.
"This service will bring significant advantages given that we are talking about people with high spending power and this is an indirect investment in the renovation and urban regeneration of local commerce which, we believe, will improve substantially", he said.

Another luxury liners are expected to dock in Cascais with at least ten boats being confirmed already for 2013, among which the luxury residential liner The World, the largest privately-owned yacht on the seas.
The World comprises apartments that can be rented for up to six months as the vessel continuously circumnavigates the globe, as it has done since its launch in 2002. Its itinerary for 2013 describes Cascais as "one of the premier resorts on the Estoril coast", adding: "Lisboetas and beach lovers from Portugal still flock here, seeking refuge from city life and hectic schedules."
In total some 3,200 visitors will be spending time in and around Cascais, thanks to the initiative, between August this year and November 2013.
